Currently I do not have an elaborate AI system setup where I can press a button and expect great results, however I do use AI to remove certain hurdles that once affected me. For instance, as a developer before AI I would ask, "How is this done", then work through the process and issues that came up one by one.
I use AI like I would use any other tool, It works in many different places for me as a developer that after a couple years of using it, it's become the Swiss-army-knife of my development kit.
AI has changed my workflow drastically, now I spend more time thinking about features that could be implemented instead of what features I could make, along with tools like Antigravity by Google I'm able to have an AI agent design my entire idea while I dictate what should be happening and as someone who's struggled to learn new programming languages, I'd happy with this aspect of AI.
I've developed websites since the 90's initially coding the raw HTML by hand, I always thought that practicing makes me a better website developer but now the game has changed.
If you're a developer of almost any kind and haven't started to use AI in some way for or fashion, I salute you, but I also know for a fact that website development is cooked as far as artificial intelligence is concerned. It's definitely increased productivity by a large percentage and takes a lot of the weight off my shoulders when it comes time to implement new features. Am I capable of developing without it? Yes, but am I more efficient with it? I'd say as a designer "yes". There's been a shift and I've noticed myself relinquishing the title of developer to the AI and I'm picking up the title designer, someone who designs websites and apps.
I feel in the future everyone will be a designer of their own solutions and needs. Once there's enough AI power and AI usage becomes a much more normal experience for the everyday user instead of the power-users who already have an AI running their whole business (Which I highly do not recommend). Right now, AI at least AI that's accessible to the public isn't ready to make constant, competent, and cohesive choices while dealing with things like large code compositions, It will ultimately change into something else if left to run by itself, must like copying an image in a copier losses quality over time. AI just doesn't keep the 'long run' in its view and has issues 'side questing' every time it gets a chance at least in my experience.
There are ways to make the AI focus by including instruction files which help guide the AI into doing what you want, but unless every step has an instruction file, you're running the risk of hallucinating AI and undesired results causing several prompt iterations, using credits, wasting time, changing code and possibly breaking something in the process.
Is AI good? I'd leave thart up to the individual user (or non-user) of the AI to answer. One thing for sure is it's here to stay whether it gets better or worse.
What are your thoughts on using AI tools in business? Do you use AI for your business? If so, how has AI changed your workflow?
